Geek Photography

A couple of years ago I wanted to start a site to catalog pictures I took of geeky stuff. Mostly pictures of fancy servers, networking equipment, and the like. I registered a domain “devphoto.net” and promptly let it expire. Well recently I had the itch again. /dev/photo is a geek photography oriented weblog I have been working on to scratch this itch. Check it out.

ShmooCon 2006 Call For Papers and Early Registration

The second annual ShmooCon will be January 13-15, in Washington, D.C., at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, just minutes from your choice of overly-curious 3-letter agencies. So register early to keep the feds from taking up all the space.

The Call for Papers, for ShmooCon is still open. If you have something interesting to talk about please read the CFP and submit something.

Also be sure to check out and participate in the Hacker Arcade project.

Don’t forget about early registration either. Until Oct. 1st admission is only $75, after that it doubles. There are a finite number of admissions and last year we sold out.

If you are broke but willing to do some work, check out the ads. If you create a video ad and we like it, it will be put on the CD given out to attendees and you will get in for free.

ShmooCon 2005 was a lot of fun (finally uploaded my pictures) and this year will be even better.

Toorcon 7 San Diego

This past weekend I flew down to San Diego for Toorcon 7. Toorcon is part of a breed of smaller hacker cons that are becoming more and more popular. Defcon is insanely huge now, and for most people (including myself) its just a yearly party in Vegas where you catch up with old friends, not caring so much about attending talks. In addition the talks that are usually the most interesting are very crowded so finding a seat proves to be difficult.

Friday

I arrived Friday evening met up with some fellow Shmoo and other friends at the opening night reception. The evening ended at The W Hotel’s
rooftop beach bar.

Riff and Melissa finally made it to New York. Riff got off his lazy ass to post some pictures and summary from the BBQ we had before they left.

Burning Man 2005 Photos

So I am back in the default world, and have tried to write a post describing my experience at Burning Man. But rather than bore you all with that I will just post the pictures.

I am still getting used to the fish eye camera, and frequently forget how close I need to get to things, but I will figure it out eventually.
