Codecon SF Day 1
Wow, long time with no posts. I arrived in San Francisco last night around 8pm. After getting picked up the airport, I headed straight over to the Fillmore to eat dinner and see The Stars. I had never listened to The Stars before and was pleasantly surprised. They hail from Montreal and have a unique edgy pop sound. One thing that stood out the most in their show was how happy they were to be playing the show. They repeatedly expressed how excited they were to play in SF and repeatedly praised the audience. During the encore set the lead singer referred to the set as “how you will remember the show”. Upon ending the set he said something along the lines of “When you go home to your apartment, crawl into bed and dream, its your show”, something like that. It really showed how much they loved the auidience and being on stage.
Having grown up listening to Grateful Dead bootlegs, I was excited to finally visit the venue where a chunk of these shows were recorded. I was a little bummed to find out that Clear Channel owns The Fillmore now. According to my friend they also sold a bunch of the classic concert posters that cover the walls inside.
After the show I was taken to a birthday party for the Indie Pop Rocks! dj for Soma FM.
