Even though I bought a new camera last month, I managed to space it in my mad rush to get to the airport. Of course other people at codecon took pictures:

Burning Man 2005 Photos
So I am back in the default world, and have tried to write a post describing my experience at Burning Man. But rather than bore you all with that I will just post the pictures.
I am still getting used to the fish eye camera, and frequently forget how close I need to get to things, but I will figure it out eventually.

There are also tons of Burning Man Pictures on the flickr stream.

BBQ Pictures
One of the gifts I received for my birthday was a Lomography fisheye camera. It’s quite cool. It has a built in flash, fisheye lens, and takes 35mm film.
For most of the day we left the camera around for people to take pictures with. You can see the results here
Now that I have a shot a roll and can see how much area the lens captures, and what the general lighting needs are, I think I can shoot some pretty cool pictures with this thing.

Greenlake Bike House Update
Last year I reported on the bike house near my office. The residents (which I have never met) are always up to some kooky stuff. I have contemplated knocking on their door a couple of times but have never quite mustered up the courage.
Since my last report we have seen some cool stuff in their front yard:
- A US Postal mailbox painted bright orange with a sign that says “For Love Letters”, circa Valentines Day
- A big chalk board that read “Oswego Analog Wiki” (oswego is the street they are on)
There most recent addition:
Good work Bike House residents. I will get up the nerve to knock on your door one these days before we move our office over to Freemont. Thank you for the chuckles and visual entertainment that wake up my sometimes slow work days.

Up in the crows nest

In a another part of my life, I worked in the commercial fishing industry in Alaska (The Bering Sea more specifically). The Bering Sea is known for the King Crab Fishery. Commercial fishing for king crab is commonly referred to as the most dangerous job in the world. I primarily worked on a trawler that fished for pollock, and worked for short period of time on crab boat where we retro fitted all the crab pots for catching cod. All the hard work of crabbing, however due to the time of year and location of the fishing grounds, not as dangerous as king crab, no where near as much money.
I recently had a bunch of 35mm negatives from one of my fishing trips scanned to digital format, which is why I am bothering to explain this at all. So here are the photos: These are pictures of the boat I worked on for this trip. It was approximately 300ft long, with a crew of 140 people. Landscape pictures of the Bering Sea and the Aleutian Islands Pictures of an Eagle that visited our boat Pictures on the deck of the American Empress The factory on the boat, where the fish where skinned, filleted, and gutted A staple way to pass time when waiting for fish or steaming back home |

Bike Ride and Bicycle House Photos
| Went on a Bike ride (photos) yesterday. Found this Bicycle decorated house near my office last week. Notice not only the bicycles adorning the house, but also the linux bumper sticker on the truck. |
